Let's Talk About...Dreams and What They Mean!

Okay, this is one I'm definitely excited for, thank you to someone who reads my blog posts for this idea, you're the real MVP!

Alright, we as a human race are known to have dreams about many different things. Food, sex (try not to giggle you perverted minds), celebrities, animals...pretty much anything. But, after a weird night of sleeping, you want to know why the hell you dreamed about going on a date with Johnny Deep and then end up in an action movie side by side with Luke Skywalker...what? It can happen!

So, here's a little list of excruciating research (honestly a few google searches) on some things or senario's in dreams and what they mean.

Animals

Dreams with animals in them sometimes represent the part of your psyche that feels connected to nature and survival. Being chased by a predator could suggest you're holding back repressed emotions like fear or aggression, so beware of lions, tigers and bears kids. (P.S Can we admire the puppies please)

Babies

Cute little bundles of joy (or demons, however you feel about babies) can symbolise for you to be in "baby fever" mode, pretty much wanting to have your own kids or your own vulnerability or need to feel loved (honestly me). They can also signify a new start in life if a life changing even has occurred.

Being Chased

This is one of the most common dream symbols to happen to most people. It can sometimes mean you're feeling threatened, so take notice on who's chasing you (they may be symbolic to a situation) and why they're a possible threat in real life.

Exams

I hate this word, but personally I dreamt about this. Exams can signify self-evaluation, with the content of the exam reflecting the part of your personality or life under inspection. Or the fact you're going through exams and it's on your mind 24/7, however you want to interpret it.

Death of a friend or loved one

This can represent change (endings and new beginnings) and is not a psychic prediction of any kind (although I can argue on that fact). If you have recently lost someone in your life, it may be an attempt to come to terms with the event and bring closure.

Falling

Okay, this is a common dream symbol that relates to our anxieties about letting go, losing control, or somehow failing after a success (me). I don't know about you, but I have a heart attack every time this happens.

Dreaming About Someone Famous

Alright, there’s a couple of reasons why you might have a dream involving someone famous. The first most common reason is that you wish to better yourself or do what this famous person is doing (for me, it music. Thanks Shawn Mendes). For example: if you’re dreaming about a sporting star on your favourite team, you might want to become a professional player and try to make your way to the top (or simply play for fun). On the other hand, dreaming about someone famous is also a way for us to get over disappointments in our lives: something big happened that let you down, but dreaming about someone famous who’s done something amazing gives us hope and happiness for the future. Again...me.

Food

Ah food. It's said to symbolise knowledge, because it nourishes the body just as information nourishes the brain. However, it could just be you having cravings for food (relatable).

Demons

Demons, however you picture them, are evil apparitions which signify emotions that have been pushed away. You may secretly feel the need to change how your feeling and what you're doing for the better.

Hands

Weird one, I know but bare with me. Hands are always present in dreams but when they are tied up it may represent feelings of futility (or uselessness). Another thing to take notice is when washing your hands, it could suggest feeling guilty about something. Also looking closely at your hands in a dream is a good way to become lucid (which I will get into).

Hooking up with your ex

Apparently, ex-sex dreams often are connected to you starting a brand new relationship, letting the old one go. Another reason could be is if you are going through a stressful time in your life, you will often dream about when life was "more straightforward." Which in turn can be represented with an ex. Also, when you are in an unsatisfying relationship, your subconscious will sometimes revisit a happier period of your life in a dream, even if that is with your ex.

Killing in your dreams

It does not make you a closet murderer; it represents your desire to "kill" part of your own personality. It can also symbolise hostility towards a particular person. So, take a chill pill.

Lucid Dreaming

A lucid dream basically is a dream during which you are aware that you are in fact dreaming. During lucid dreaming, you may be able to exert some degree of control over the dream characters, narrative, and environment. So pretty much, you can control everything that happens. The way you can lucid dream is by keeping a dream journal, but beware, you have a higher chance of sleep paralysis. You've been warned.

Marriage

Don't freak out, but it may be a literal desire to wed or a merging of the feminine and masculine parts of your psyche, but probably wanting to marry is more likely.

Nudity

This is another common dream symbol, revealing your true self to others (in a very different way). You may feel vulnerable and exposed to others by showing your true self.

Schools

Schools are another common dream symbol in children and teenagers but what about dreaming of school in adulthood? It may display a need to know and understand yourself and learning life's lessons.

Sex dreams

Calm your dirty minds children. These dreams can symbolise intimacy and a literal desire for sex (oh you saw that coming, don't act surprise). Or it may demonstrate the unification of unconscious emotions, showing a new awareness and personal growth.

Teachers

Okay, aside from being literal manifestations of people, can represent authority figures with the power to enlighten you. Don't diss your teachers people, they help you in the long run.

Being trapped (physically)

This is a common nightmare theme, reflecting your real life inability to escape or make the right choice in life decisions or for me, what food I want to eat for dinner the next night.

Hopefully this was somewhat entertaining for you guys! Make sure to give it a heart and next post will be a surprise interview with a social media influencer. I enjoyed doing it!
