Let's Talk About...What To Do After a Crappy Day.

We are humans.

We all have shit days.

Some (obviously) worse than others.

I have a fair share of crappy days where I don't want to speak, look, or have anyone breathe near me at all. That's just how I am to be quite frank.

But, some of you don't know what to do to make yourself feel better in the sense of getting through what crappy thing you're dealing with. So, I've compiled another list on some things to remember and do when you've had a shitty day.

1. Treat Yo'self!

You do have the ability to treat yourself, you know that, right?

This is honestly my favourite thing to do after a long, head screw of a day. Being able to treat myself and spend money, even though I need to save.

People like to say I'm a shopaholic, I like to say that if I like something, I'll damn well buy it.

But, obviously if you're not looking into spending big bucks on clothes or anything overly expensive (also me) go to McDonalds and buy yourself a frappe or an ice cream, in hopes it can make you feel a little better. Sometimes little things are the best things.

Treating yourself isn't a crime boo, enjoy your damn self.

2. Meditation

Alright, you all can laugh away and make jokes about this, but sometimes if I'm having an off day and I feel anxious or sad, I find myself a quite place with no interruptions and just mediate.

Obviously you don't need to do it for three hours (but if you want to, you do you boo) but even to get your breathing back to normality and your mind in a better place, then you'll feel lighter and much more calmer with things.

And plus that pose and making the 'humm' sounds is lowkey entertaining and I giggle at myself.

3. Take a bath or a hot shower

None of you can argue with me about this, and if you do you're a liar.

A shower or bath can always make you feel better after a shitty day at school or work, just to feel a little bit better about yourself. I look forward to these whilst watching Riverdale or Stranger Things if I'm being entirely honest. (On a side note, I love Emma Stone and that GIF is everything).

4. Phone a friend

I couldn't tell you how many times I've had to phone up a friend after a shitty day. For some reason, they've always helped me feel better.

Being able to talk to someone about how you're feeling or what's happened through the day is the most important thing you can do for yourself mentally. Keeping it bottled up is the worst thing you can do.

So, if you wanna hysterically cry on the phone to your homie, you damn well do it!

5. Watch, Read and Listen

Sometimes it's the little things that make us feel better, our favourite things (excuse The Sound of Music reference), but it's true.

Watching your favourite t.v show or movie, reading your favourite book or blog (*cough* *cough*) and listening to your favourite music whether its Top 40 Hits or Screamo, it can always help. It's your favourite things that are going to make your day a little bit better. It gives you something to enjoy and go back to whenever your feeling low.

6. Turn off your electronics

If listening to music or watching t.v isn't your thing or is causing you to feel sad, turn off your phone, computer, iPad, whatever electronics you have an occupy yourself with something else.

Even though these things can make us feel better, sometimes they're the root cause of our problems and make us feel shitty.

So, take a breather and find something else that'll make you feel better. Go for a walk, a bike ride, go and experience nature.

7. A hug

Something as simple as hug can make my day better. Obviously don't go hugging strangers because there are some...interesting characters about, but, there's always other people you can turn to. Whether it's your mum, dad, brother/sister, dog/cat, grandma/grandpa, best friend or boyfriend, a hug can make anyone feel better. (Not to gloat but I give some pretty good hugs)

8. Write down your feelings

Now, this isn't as stupid as it sounds. Sometimes on multiple days, shit happens (it's inevitable) and you want to talk about it but maybe you don't have someone you trust or don't want to share it with anyone, here's something else you can do.

Writing down your thoughts and feelings or what you even want to say to someone can make you feel better since you've let it out on paper. Afterwards you can burn it, bin it, or keep it in a diary, whatever you prefer, I like using this method when I have things I want to say (trust me, I can be an easily irritated person).

9. Go to bed earlier

This is something I haven't mastered, but I'm working on it.

Staying up at 3:00am isn't healthy (I'm not going to lie, I've done this before, and I felt shit the next day) so, another thing to do is go to bed reasonably early, you'll (hopefully) feel better the next day and more energised.

10. Remember:

Someone always is having a worse day than you.

I know this is hard to think about when you feel the world is caving in on you and you can't breathe, but something I always leave in the back of my mind is that someone always has it worse than what I do. Worse things could have happened, but I'm still breathing, I'm healthy and I have people that love me. So, no matter the situation that you're going through, things could be much worse.

So, hopefully this can help you through whatever you're going through, you've got this!
